characters verging on hysteria…

I have found it easier to identify with the characters who verge upon hysteria, who were frightened of life, who were desperate to reach out to another person. But these seemingly fragile people are the strong people really.

—-Tennessee Williams

I love this quote. My heroine seems fragile, she feels like a soft-shelled crab, defenseless. But, she soon learns that it’s the people with tough skins who are weak inside. When push comes to shove, she has the strong core.

And even her nemesis, who seems invulnerable has a soft core under her armor. It’s the soft core that proves her failing and allows the heroine to win.

And when she meets her new partner and begins to have feelings for him, she has to prove that her thin skin allows her hear to feel love.
